Taylor Swift set to play BST in Hyde Park on July 11th!

The news we have all been waiting for, when is Taylor Swift next coming to our shores to perform? Well fear not, just as Swift promised a date has been announced for Taylor to return to the UK to showcase her new album Lover. It's been a whirlwind year for Taylor and these past few months have been a rollercoaster of emotions for the star and her team with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but this has not put the star off travelling, or the fans off buying, as the pre-sale is already doing well.

Just last weekend Swift did a 13 minute performance of her greatest hits at the AMA's as she took home artist of the decade and now Billboard want to honour her as well with the award for Woman of the decade. It demonstrates the impact Swift's career has had not just on the music industry but on the wider community but it's not been without its controversies. The AMA's were overshadowed somewhat by Swift's former label head Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun trying to put a stop to her performance. But as always Taylor stood up and fought for her rights just like she did for other musicians when she negotiated her deal with Republic and when she boycotted the streaming services. Of course this was another battle Taylor Swift won and the performance made a point but more importantly it showed us just what an incredible writer, performer, musician and business woman Taylor really is.

Now the focus has shifted to her new venture as an actress and lyricist in the new film adaptation of Cats. The musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on T. S. Elliott's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats has been a great success both on broadway, the west end and around the World since it first opened in 1981. Now with Lloyd Webber's involvement the musical will come to life on the big screen. It features much of the original music and stars James Cordon and Dame Judi Dench to name a few. Taylor stars as Bomballerina but has also had a hand in the music. A couple of weeks ago Beautiful Ghosts made it's first appearance. The track is a departure from Swift's other work but her first collaboration with Lloyd Webber is a success and gives us an insight into more of her talents. Andrew was my first musical inspiration and Swift is now my favourite songwriter of all time so for me this song was a dream and I sincerely hope that it's not the last time these two names appear on a songs writing credits! I look forward to hearing it in context with the film when it comes out on December 20th.

With her return to the UK, a home away from home for Taylor, we await to see how she will stage her performance. What songs she will play, what songs she will be allowed to play! With her longest album to date hitting shelves this past year it will be hard to pick what to put in the set. One thing we can promise you is a real show, expect pyrotechnics and on stage dress changes. Expect Swift to float through the air one way or another. Expect great musicianship and the best dancers. Swift always delivers.

And so does BST. Next year the event will be in it's 8th year and it has played host to the Worlds greatest and most relevant artists such as Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue, and Bruno Mars to name just a few. 2020 looks like it is shaping up to be another fantastic year for the event with Little Mix already being announced and now Taylor Swift - Artist of the Decade! Stay tuned and we'll bring you all the latest information regarding BST and Taylor Swift!
